Olá!
Get ready for the the Lisboa +Gamma Ingress Anomaly
on February 28th 2026!

The struggle for the fate of humanity continues in Lisboa, 28th February.
After RES victory in #DarsanaPrime, the Shapers return, seeking to subjugate the city to their will.
Once again, their plans are doomed to failure.
Lisboa enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine throughout the year. The city’s sunny weather makes it perfect for exploring historic streets, relaxing by the river or enjoying outdoor cafés.
Even in winter, the sun often shines, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere that visitors love.
Portuguese people are known for their warmth and friendliness. Visitors often feel welcome in homes, cafés and streets. Locals are helpful, polite, and proud to share their culture and traditions.
This genuine hospitality makes exploring Lisboa and other cities a memorable experience.
Golden, flaky and filled with silky custard, the pastel de nata is more than a pastry – it is a delicious symbol of Lisboa’s soul that draws travelers from around the world.
Fresh from the oven and dusted with cinnamon, one bite is enough to make you fall in love with Lisboa.
You don’t want to miss this!
Traveling to Lisboa is super easy and we’re eager to welcome you, either if you’re returning or if it’s your first time in our city. We welcome over 8.5 million tourists a year!
By Train
International trains connect Lisboa with several cities in Spain (e.g. Madrid, Vigo). Arrivals typically go through Estação Santa Apolónia or Estação Oriente, both with metro access.
A convenient option if you are already travelling around the Iberian Peninsula.
By Bus
Long-distance services link Lisboa to Spain and other European cities. Most buses arrive at Sete Rios or Oriente, both linked to the metro network.
Usually an affordable way to reach the city.
By Car
Drive into Portugal via major highways such as A1, A2 or A6, depending on where you start. Common border crossings from Spain include Badajoz-Elvas and Tui-Valença.
Parking in central Lisboa can be tricky. Consider park-and-ride or staying slightly outside.
By Cruise (because why not?)
The Cruise Terminal at Santa Apolónia receives ships from Atlantic and Mediterranean routes.
From there, you’re just minutes away from iconic neighbourhoods like Alfama and Baixa.
By Metro
Lisboa’s metro network has four main lines (blue, yellow, green and red) covering most of the city.
Fast, reliable and perfect for avoiding traffic, especially during rush hours. Tickets can be bought at stations or via the reusable Viva Viagem card.
By Tram
Famous historic trams, like the 28, pass through scenic neighbourhoods such as Alfama, Graça and Baixa.
Ideal for sightseeing, but can be crowded during peak tourist times.
By Bus
Extensive bus routes connect areas not served by the metro or tram. A good option for reaching suburban areas or more local spots.
By Train
Trains from Rossio, Oriente and Cais do Sodré stations connect Lisboa to nearby towns like Sintra, Cascais and Setúbal.
Perfect for day trips outside the city.
By Taxi or Rideshare
Taxis are widely available, but always check that the meter is running.
Rideshare apps like Uber and Bolt are common and often more convenient for tourists.
By Bicycle or Electric Scooter
Lisboa has growing cycling infrastructure and e-scooter rentals throughout the city.
Best for short trips or exploring flat areas like Belém and the riverside.
Walking
Many of Lisboa’s historic districts are best explored on foot. Be prepared for hills and cobbled streets, but the views and hidden gems are worth it.
Lisboa is generally considered very safe for tourists. Violent crime is rare and most visits are trouble-free.
Common issues are petty thefts like pickpocketing, especially in crowded areas like downtown, on public transport or around major tourist attractions.
Standard precautions: keeping an eye on belongings, avoiding poorly lit streets at night and using reputable transport.
Here are some must-see places and activities in the city:
Is that even a question? Yes, Lisboa is an excellent place to play Ingress!
The city has a high density of portals, especially in historic and tourist areas like Alfama, Baixa, Belém and Bairro Alto, making it easy to farm, link and create fields.
Parks, plazas, monuments, and public art provide plenty of portal options and the compact city centre allows for efficient walking or biking routes.
Outside the centre, there are still portals along the riverfront, in LX Factory, and in neighbourhoods like Parque das Nações.
Overall, Lisboa offers a rich and varied Ingress experience for both casual and dedicated players.
You can visit the official Visit Lisboa website.
